about

Influenced by his grandmother and great grandfather, John began fiddling at the age of 7. He spent 26 years of his life living in Monroe County on a farm outside of Madison, Missouri. The style in which he plays can be attributed to his apprenticeship with legendary Missouri old-time fiddler Pete McMahan and from the influences of the area in which he lived.

On his way home from the Yankton, South Dakota National Invitational Fiddle Contest, John stopped in Independence, MO to record Monroe County Influences. To compliment his fiddling, Matt Wyatt, owner and proprietor of the Wyatt Violin Shop, accompanies him on guitar, tenor guitar and upright bass. Also accompanying him is Jeff Elsloo on banjo.
